Delicate Technology
I have been using a PDA since the first Palm Pilot’s came out from 3COM. As a matter of fact, I have become quite reliant on them. I keep all kinds of random information in it, some things that I use often and some things that I hardly ever look at.
One thing that hasn’t changed from my old 3COM Palm Pilot to my latest Dell Axim is that if you drop them, they will cease to function. It seems to me that a thing that is supposed to be carried around with you all the time would be built sturdier than that. There are no moving parts inside like a laptop or PC with it’s hard drive, so that is not the issue. There are laptops out there intended for harsh enviroments that can survive a fall or an impact, so I know this can be done. The problem must be with the cost of making something survive a drop. The rugged laptops are priced at a premium over their fragile bretheren, so the PDA that can survive a drop must also be more expensive.
I don’t think that an all out “ruggedizing” is in order, but it would be nice if they could survive a 3 foot drop to the ground. I would pay a few extra dollars for the piece of mind.

The title of this entry is the subject line from a piece of spam e-mail that I recieved today. I won’t go into what the e-mail was attempting to sell as it doesn’t matter anyway. What matters is that I have never done business with the sender of the e-mail, I never will purchase anything from the sender, and I have never bought or sold the item that was on sale in the e-mail. This is just one of the 150+ spam e-mail’s that I get per day.
I have heard interviews with admitted spammers, and they don’t see anything wrong at all with what they do. They don’t have a problem taking up millions of cycles of CPU time across the systems connected to the internet involved with sending that spam to you. They don’t care if you don’t want it, they don’t care if you try to block it. They will take whatever means are necessary for you to see that e-mail.

How to write a blog.
I think that most people like to do things to the best of their ability. At least that has been my personal experience so far. Since I too like to try to do things as best I can, I am trying to improve the readership of this blog. I have it pinging all the major blog sites when I update, and I am also beaming it into space for people on other planets to read.
So, where can you fo to get advice on blog writing? How about blog authors? A Google search later and I was at this site. The author has some very good advice that seem to carry across most of the blogs that I read. They are generally observations written fairly well (I personally can’t write very well) that stick to one topic at a time.
I think this is what I am trying to do, but I am still sure that no one reads this blog.
One area where I have been really lacking is updating on a daily, or nearly daily basis. Part of that is the lack of any remotely interesting topic to write about. It’s a balance between quantity and quality. I suppose that I could start writing about politics, but there seems to be plenty of blogs out there covering that topic. Besides that, I tend to get too worked up when talking about politics, so I generally try to avoid it.
I guess at this point I will continue as I am, and if people pick up this blog and read it, they will. If they don’t, I will still continue to post my ramblings here for the aliens.
Good one!
Just testing image posting.

Thought it was funny anyway.
