I shaved my beard!
I have worn a full beard since I was able to grow one, which has been since I was about 20 or so. In case you are wondering, that would be 15 years. There were a couple of very brief times in that period when I did shave it off, as the result of a trimming mistake, or other occasion.
One particular occasion was when I decided to enter a Halloween contest, and decided to go as Uncle Fester from the Addams Family, I had to shave my beard, plus my entire head to fit the role. I even found a trick light bulb that I could get to illuminate in my mouth. It was that cheap bulb that won the contest for me.
But, that is not what I started to talk about.
I shaved my beard off, and decided to leave a goatee. I have never worn a goatee before so I thought that it would be an interesting change for a while. The goatee looks good, even if I say so myself. I don’t look evil or maniacal, or at least I don’t think so.
This means that I now have to shave. I have never liked shaving, which is one of the reasons for the beard in the first place. However, to properly maintain a beard, you still have to shave some parts of your face to keep it looking neat. From that experience I learned that electric shavers, no matter what brand, could not possibly give you the closeness of shave that a blade can. That is an absolute fact.
I used to buy just the cheap old razors, like the Bic disposables and etcetera. I thought for sure that I was getting taken for a ride when I spent $12.00 dollars on a Gillette M3 turbo. Boy was I surprised, the thing really works! I have really sensitive skin, so every other time that I had shaved in the past I got really bad razor burn. Whatever this razor does, it makes it so that you have to take only one or two passes, and you are clean.
I guess that sometimes products do deliver what they claim.
